Ironclad Exude Build
Overview
Exude is a Power that deals 3 damage to all enemies every time you Exhaust a card. Once it's in play, cards that were already good (like Offering for Energy or Second Wind for Block) now also punch every enemy for free. Stack enough Exhaust triggers per turn and Exude's passive AoE damage alone kills rooms. The Alchemist relic turns each Exhaust into a random potion, layering resource income on top of damage. This build excels at handling multi-enemy rooms where the free AoE would otherwise cost Energy.
Key Cards
- Exude: Power costing 1. Whenever you Exhaust a card, deal 3 damage to all enemies (4 upgraded). The central engine — every other card should generate Exhaust events.
- Offering: Skill costing 0, Exhaust. Lose 6 HP, gain 2 Energy, draw 3 cards. Triggers Exude on play and gives Energy for more plays — one card does three things.
- Searing Blow: Attack costing 2, Exhaust. Deals significant damage and Exhausts itself. Can be upgraded multiple times for increasing base damage, creating a high-floor Exhaust trigger.
- Armaments: Skill costing 1, Exhaust. Upgrade a card in hand and Exhaust Armaments. A free Exude trigger that also improves your deck.
- Second Wind: Skill costing 1. Exhaust all non-Attack cards in hand, gain 5 Block per card Exhausted. Clears a cluttered hand for multiple Exude triggers while generating substantial Block.
- True Grit: Skill costing 1. Gain 7 Block (9 upgraded), Exhaust a random card. Efficient Block + guaranteed Exude trigger.
Key Relics
- The Alchemist: After an Exhaust, produce a random potion. Stacking 4-5 Exhaust triggers per turn turns into a potion flood, creating resource advantages that compound across multiple fights.
- Charon's Ashes: Deal 3 damage to all enemies when you Exhaust a card. A relic that duplicates Exude's effect — if you hold both, each Exhaust triggers 6 AoE damage from Exude + Ashes combined.
Strategy
- Play Exude immediately when you draw it — every Exhaust before Exude is a missed damage trigger.
- Prioritize Exhaust-generating cards in rewards. Even weak Exhaust cards become free AoE damage with Exude active.
- Use Offering early in a turn to generate Energy for further plays, each of which might also Exhaust.
- Second Wind is best held until you have 4+ non-Attack cards in hand — each one exhausted deals 3 AoE and gives 5 Block.
- If Alchemist is available, plan Exhaust turns around maximising potion drops; potions kept for boss fights are often decisive.
Pick Priority
- Exude: Must take — the whole build is meaningless without it.
- Offering: Highest — an Exhaust that also produces Energy and draw; perfect dual-purpose card.
- Searing Blow: High — upgradeable Exhaust that also deals decent direct damage.
- Second Wind: High — converts dead hand into Block + multiple Exude triggers.
- True Grit: Medium-High — reliable 1-cost Exhaust + Block combo.
- Armaments: Medium — upgrade value plus Exude trigger; take when deck needs improvement.
Tips
- Exude + Charon's Ashes relic doubles the damage per Exhaust. With both active, each Second Wind clearing 5 cards deals 30 AoE damage before you even attack.
- The Alchemist potion flood allows aggressive trading of HP for Energy across fights, since potions top you back up.
- Don't Exhaust your key cards like Barricade or Demon Form accidentally via True Grit — if you have both Exude and high-value powers, play True Grit before drawing key cards or use Second Wind (which only Exhausts non-Attack cards).
- Searing Blow is worth upgrading multiple times since each upgrade is proportionally stronger (it gains damage faster than linear). This also raises Exude's total damage-per-trigger floor.
- Keep deck size moderate — too many Exhaust cards thin the deck below the point where you can reliably draw Exude itself early in each fight. :::
